Your laptop does NOT need to be turned on when going through any airport in the U.S. However, it needs to be taken out of the bag and placed separately in a bin provided by the airport. The laptop has to be by itself in the bin, which means that you can’t place your shoes or jacket in the same bin of your laptop. Also, if you are traveling with a dvd player, that needs to be taken out as well and be placed in a separate bin. Keep in mind that when going through airport security, please make sure you have your boarding pass and government photo i.d. with you. Remember the 3-1-1 rule. No liquid/s should be greater than 3oz. and it should be placed in 1 sealable quart size bag and should be placed in a bin. Now that you have all these information handy, it should make it easier and simpler for you and others to go through security.
