i need to buy a small laptop computer in taiwan?

what do you recommend?
should i buy japanese ones like sony?
what about the quality of taiwanese computers?
can i repair the computer outside of taiwan?
i like apple computers, i own one, but the size is too big to carry with me…

Asus and Acer are the leading Taiwanese manufacturers of very high quality of laptops and other computer accessories. They all have their issues, you will always find people who prefer other brands and will talk you of of buying one of these. It’s because they have had good experience with other brands and would like to see you buying one just like them. The truth is: all other brands have some issues with their laptops! I personally have Toshiba, but my brother and othen very close friends own Asus and Acer laptops in abundance. I personally don’t ;ike Sony’s, but that mostly because of the rumors about them and lack of experience with them.

Taiwanese laptops usually have global warranty, you have to ask your dealer for that though. Many models you can find in Taiwan you will not find anywhere else, the same with their US and European models elsewhere.

There are computer streets in every major Taiwan city. In Taichung there is one around the train station (best deals and you can bargain A LOT, just show them you know what you want) and then around NOVA.
